CISTERN & TANK FILLS:
We have 3 different sized potable water trucks. Our trucks range from a carrying capacity of 1,800 Gallons, 2,000 Gallons and 2,500 Gallons. Depending on the specific customer needs deliveries are possible with all trucks. Our primary truck carries 2,500 Gallons at legal carrying capacity. Rates vary based on distance to delivery location and type of service required. Basic water rates starting at $128.80/ truckload of water apply for cistern and tank filling. Flat rates are quoted for water delivery and are based on distance rather than quantity of water required. Delivery is available for quantities from 100 gallons to 2,500 gallons per truckload. Multiple truckload bookings are available for large fill needs.
Various sizes and lengths of hoses are carried on our trucks as well as male and female adaptors of various types and sizes. Please provide details of length of hose required at time of booking if need exceeds approximately 40 feet. Primarily a 2” hose is used to fill most cistern’s and tanks if a larger or smaller hose is required please provide details at time of booking.
COMPACTION & DUST CONTROL:
We have 2 trucks available for compaction and duct control purposes. Both trucks have 100 barrel tanks (or 3,000 Gallons.) One truck is potable and the other is considered “dirty” meaning it can pump from fire hydrants, reservoirs, rivers, lakes etc. Both trucks are equipped with spray bars and water cannons to provide both mass spray and specific area spraying capabilities. All trucks have various sized and types of hoses and nozzles. Rates vary based on water provision (are we providing water from our fill stations or are we using the customers water source for example Fire hydrants, lakes, etc.) Hourly Rates are charged at $85.00/ hour for all time truck is on site and depending on distance to and from job site an hourly rate may also be charged for travel time.
Bookings are available starting from 1 hour and are available for weekly or monthly projects as well. Corporate billing and credit accounts are available based on approved credit.
LANDSCAPE, TREE & SOD WATERING:
We have 3 water trucks of various sizes ranging from 1,800 gallons t0 2,500 gallons at legal carrying capacity to meet specific customer needs. Trucks used for landscape, tree and sod watering are equipped with spray bars, water cannons and various types, sizes and lengths of hoses and spray nozzles.

Portable Water Holding Tank Rentals with various sizes and types of pumps, hoses and spray nozzles are available for landscape, tree and sod watering requirements as well. Tanks are filled by Central City Water as required and allow the availability to provide large quantities of water to locations in which water quality, water pressure or water availability is a problem such as farms or acreages when seed or sod is laid or trees are planted. Tanks allow for property owners to water as often as required without having to pay our drivers to do watering for them. Tanks are available on a weekly or monthly rental basis. For further details with regards to Holding Tank Rentals please refer to Holding Tank Rentals and Fills section of this website or call (403) 235-0042.
SWIMMING POOL& HOT TUB FILLS:
Central City Water works with a large number of swimming pool, hot tub and spa retailers. We provide potable “City” water for our customer’s indoor and outdoor pool, hot tub and spa usage. As our water is considered potable it is delivered already chlorinated to a small degree. Most pool and hot tub retailers recommend potable “city” water is used in their products as” well” water contains in most cases large quantities of minerals and other such acidic or basic components which can cause damage to the purchased product and the products moving parts through build up or corrosion. It is also extremely difficult and usually quite expensive to treat “well” water in spas as larger amounts of chemicals are required to achieve optimum levels and maintain such levels. Our water trucks carry 2,500 Gallons at legal carrying capacity and take approximately 20 minutes to unload water completely, therefore, providing our customers with a very quick method of using their swimming pools, hot tubs and spas. In comparison to using a garden hose to fill the same area our rates are very affordable and in some cases cheaper than the cost of using a garden hose and paying the city rate for water.
Our trucks carry on average 50 feet of hose, however longer amounts are available upon request. Please notify office staff at time of booking the approximate amount of hose required. Length required will vary based on location of spa (whether indoors or outdoors) as well as how close the water truck can get to the spa location.
Multiple Deliveries are available however to accommodate specific timing or dates please provide as much notice as possible for booking requirements. Corporate billing and credit accounts are available based on approved credit.
POND & WATERFALL FILLS:
At Central City Water we work hard to meet your specific water needs. Many home owners are now choosing water features in their landscaping plans. We have various sizes and weights of trucks available to fill your pond and waterfall requirements. If asphalt or cement is a concern our single axle truck is your best bet. If large quantities of water are required and surface driving conditions are not a factor our tandem axle trucks can provide up to 2,500 gallons of water per delivery and if surface conditions are an issue we have large amounts of hose to meet your specific needs.
During water shortages and water bans we are available to meet all water requirements. For the quick and easy solution to filling ponds from small indoor pond sizes to large dug outs and duck pond sizes we will deliver!
Multiple Deliveries are available however to accommodate specific timing or dates please provide as much notice as possible for booking requirements. Corporate billing and credit accounts are available based on approved credit.

SKATING RINK FLOODING:
Skating Rinks in the Calgary area can be a difficult task. With constant weather changes such as Chinooks a thick ice pack is the best bet. Skating rinks can be built many ways, from building up dirt burms, to using 2x4‘s as ledges as long as there is a strong surface to hold water in a rink can be built. The MOST important factor in building a skating rink is to build on level ground as of course the water when being poured will flow to the lowest areas first. Many of our customers use tarps and liners to hold the water above ground level; however we have found the customers whom build without liners have a better quality of ice that lasts longer throughout the Chinooks.
Depending on the size of the skating rink and if a liner is used it takes on average approximately 5 truckloads of water to build a nice layer of ice. If a liner is not used it takes approximately 8 truckloads as the first three loads will sink into the ground. If a liner is used and it is a warm winter we usually will be called in the later months to bring one or two more loads as the ice has melted and water has run off or evaporated with the warm temperatures. If a liner is not used the rinks usually last well into early spring with no need for top ups.
Rates for skating rink construction start at $128.80/ truckload of water (each truckload carries a legal capacity of 2,500 Gallons or 11,000 liters of water) and increase based on distance of delivery. An hourly rate of $85.00/ hour plus GST is also applied as it takes approximately 1 hour per truckload of water to flood the area properly, especially in the later or finishing loads where attention is paid to ice levels and smoothness. If it has snowed prior to water delivery the existing ice (if any) must be swept or shoveled off prior to delivery to avoid bumpy ice. For more information or to book a skating rink flood please call (403) 235-0042.

Most Home and Business Owners on Private Cisterns and Wells (as we have recently discovered) are unaware of the health risks of not utilizing proper water sampling and cleaning/sanitization procedures on a regular basis. Did you know: Statistics Canada reports in the latest survey conducted, only 33% of households on non municipal (Wells or Cisterns) water supplies have tested their water. Scientists Without Borders reports in their latest survey, 45% of Waterborne Outbreaks in Canada involve non municipal (Wells or Cisterns) systems. We hope to assist your needs in all of these areas and are booking service packages and individual services on a call in as well as scheduled basis.
When was the last time you cleaned your Cistern or holding Tanks? Did you know Health Canada recommends “Cisterns should be cleaned at least once per year and more frequently if the water is being used for family/employee consumption or a new baby is expected.”

Cistern and Well Shocking is a VERY in depth process and Health Canada quotes “requires knowledge of water wells and a comfort level working with required chemicals” and is recommended to only be completed by a company such as ours, ( with specific knowledge and training about proper procedures) a licensed water well contractor or licensed plumber.” If the shocking process is preformed incorrectly it can cause large amounts of damage to the system and equipment and may not properly remove bacteria or other contaminants from the system. Health Canada recommends Cistern and Well Shocking should be done at least once per year and has separate procedures for E. coli and Fecal Coliform (which can be found in Cisterns and Wells) or Iron and Sulfur bacteria (which are only found in Wells.)
When was the last time you Shocked your Cistern or Well? Did you know Health Canada recommends “Cisterns and Wells should be shocked and Cleaned at least once per year and more frequently if the water is being used for family/employee consumption or a new baby is expected.”
Our Cistern & Well Shocking Service includes a 10 point visual inspection of Holding Tank(s) and surrounding area.
Shocking is used to properly clean and disinfect all tanks, lines and appliances attached to your Cistern or Well. Cistern Shocking Service Prices include the cost of chemicals, flush of all faucets etc. inside and outside of the house ensuring desired concentration of chemicals is reached in all water “outlets” and supply of Holding Tank to facilitate proper flushing of system and water drainage. The flushing of the system after shocking is complete is a time consuming process and is usually done by the home or business owner as such. Flushing is available however, not included in set prices. Basic Cistern Shocking Services are $300 plus GST.
For Flushing Services $85/Hour plus GST is charged. It takes on average anywhere between 4-8 hours to properly flush a system.

CRHA APPROVED CHEMICAL & BACTERIOLOGICAL WATER SAMPLING SERVICES
At Central City Water we ensure that the water delivered to our customers is the best quality possible and diligently work with The Calgary Regional Health Authority to comply with guidelines and policies to ensure our products are safe for our customer’s needs. We have discovered through this working relationship, how time consuming and detailed the Water Sampling process is! We have also discovered that, although the Health Region strongly recommends regular Water Sampling to be done for private residences and Businesses on Cistern and Well type water systems. MOST system owners are NOT aware of this recommendation and the many health reasons behind it. Most individuals do not know how to go about taking water samples and which type of samples should be taken, or how often to sample. The sampling process has specific time deadlines and procedures to follow which can be a very time consuming and frustrating process! Let US do the sampling for you!
Most consumers assume that since they are receiving “City Water” deliveries their water supply is clean. This is NOT necessarily the case! There are many factors that contribute to water contamination even in “sealed” or closed Cistern and tank systems, which the average home or business owner is unaware of. I could provide an entire page of possible and frequent contaminants, here are just a few contaminants we encounter on a regular basis: sunlight and algae growth, rust and mineral deposits, (which can be caused by many things such as metal parts or equipment in or around Cisterns and Tanks, debris that have fallen into tanks or has been left by tank constructors etc.) dirt and other outdoor materials, decaying animals such as cats, frogs, worms and salamanders (to name just a few) whom are attracted to the smell of water, loose or old liners or bladders in tanks and cisterns, old types of seals or sealing/ repair materials and the list goes on!
The Health Region recommends Bacteriological Water Samples be taken “at LEAST once per year and more frequently if the water is used for “family consumption, is expecting a new baby, or has known contaminants.” Chemical samples are to be taken from private Water Wells at LEAST once every five years and more frequently if water is being used for family consumption, is expecting a new baby, or has just been drilled or completed.” All samples taken are sent through the Calgary Regional Health Authority Laboratories for analysis, and a detailed report will be provided to the customer with results. If a result is found to be unsafe we have our NEW SERVICE of Cistern and Well Shocking which we can complete for our customers and of course our Cistern Cleaning Service is also recommended. Once the Shocking and Cleaning is complete we will provide another water sample free of charge to the Health Authority to ensure water is once again at safe levels. Regardless of water results the Regional Health Authorities recommend Well and Cistern Shocking and Cleaning be done at least once per year.
Individual costs for our Water Sampling Services are $150.00 plus GST for Bacteriological or Chemical Sampling. If you would like both samples to be taken there is an additional charge of $50.00 as samples are sent to different locations for analysis.
Customers on Wells require Chemical and Bacterial Sampling, however customers on Cisterns only require Bacteriological Sampling as the water provided (or hauled into the Cistern(s)) has been purified and chemical levels have been reduced during the water treatment process.
For more information, or to book an appointment please call (403) 235-0042. Also check out our packages page on this website for some GREAT savings and specials!
WELL FLOODING & JUMP STARTS
Has your Well stopped producing water? or is it producing considerably less water than normal? We can help! Central City Water is a member of the Alberta Water Well Drilling Association and is experienced in providing this service.
Common practice to increase water production in wells that have stopped producing or are producing a considerably smaller amount of water than “normal” is to have the well filled with Potable Water from an outside source. By filling the well from an outside source many problems such as chemical and mineral deposits, pump levels and sediment blockages or clogging of pumps and equipment are alleviated as the water and water pressure often free blockages etc.
This service is NOT guaranteed to work in starting a well back up, however it is the cheapest and least labor intensive way to determine and possibly alleviate well production problems and is recommended as a 1st step in well repair.
Costs for Well Flooding & Jump Starts begin at $128.80/ truckload of water and vary based on distance of water delivery. Our trucks carry 2,500 Gallons (or 11,000 Liters) of water at legal capacity. Rates are based on delivery distance; therefore any amount within the 2,500 Gallons is the same price. Prices include a “fill time” of 20 minutes. As some wells have limited fill space and small containment units time on each site varies. If our truck is on site longer than 20 minutes an hourly rate charge of $85/hour plus GST is applied. As each well is different, lower water pressures and longer fill times may be required. Once on site and connected to the well the drivers are better able to assess each unique situation. If an hourly rate is needed the drivers will ALWAYS discuss this with our customers and provide the customer options and a rough time frame based on what they can see, the rate and time water has taken to unload (during the 20 minute period included in price) and information provided by the customer.
AGRICULTURE & LIVESTOCK WATER HAULING
Central City Water is a proud member of the Alberta Government’s Disaster & Drought Relief Contractors & Service Providers. As our company has both potable and non-potable water trucks we have the availability to provide our customers water from various sources depending on need such as City (or potable) Water, Water from Dug outs, rivers, creeks, Irrigation Ditches etc. We have water cannons and spray bars on all of our trucks, as well as various sizes and lengths of hoses and spray nozzles for more specialized requirements. Depending on water supply (if we are providing the water or customer is providing the water) rates start at $128.80/truckload and vary based on delivery distance. Our trucks carry 2,500 Gallons (or 11,000 Liters) of water at Legal Capacity and are equipped with high powered pumps for various water pressure requirements. Hourly rates of $85/hour will be charged for all spraying/spreading of water and if customer is providing water source (rather than paying a “truckload” cost including the price of water we purchase.)
We also rent various sizes and types of Portable Water Pumps. Our pumps range from 1.5 horsepower to 6.5 horsepower and are available in both gas and electric options. We also rent various sizes of pumps and pressure tanks. With pump rentals, there are 2 sizes of hose attachments available, depending on the pump required either garden or fire sized hoses and spray nozzles are available. For long Lengths or custom type hoses additional rental charges may be incurred.
For more information, or to book a delivery or rental please call (403) 235-0042.
